Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain - A Love Story

I am addicted to lip stains.  I don't wear lipstick that much because I don't want the hassle of having to touch-up my lips after a few hours. I can't leave home without toting my cheek and lip stain around.    I feel conscious when I know that my lip color has faded already, even just for a bit.  I don't like having pale lips.

Good thing I learned about Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains.  I was not really looking for a lip balm or a new lip color as I was quite happy with my Lip Ice magic lip balm. I was just lounging around Watson's a month ago when I started swatching these balm stains on my lips.  When I first tried it on, it really did not make a lasting impression on me while I was at the store.  When I got home to finally wash my make up off, it was then that I became a Revlon convert.  Even after scrubbing my face and brushing my teeth, the stain was still there.

I finally went back to Watson's and bought my first ever Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Charm.  A week later, I went back and got Cherish.

Charm on the Left.  Cherish on the Right.

Even though I was extremely satisfied with my first 2 conquests,  I was looking forward to actually having Honey.  Honey's color gives an MLBB (My Lips But Better) kind of effect. However, due to the popularity of this shade, it is always sold out.

I must have done something good last week because on my way to an event, I dropped by Metropoint and found the love of my life.  It was there laying on an unassuming Revlon counter in a small kiosk on the 2nd floor where I fell in love again.  I finally found what I've been searching for for at least a month.  My Honey was waiting for me there.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey.

Honey gives off a mauvish finish

In terms of packaging, this lippie is very comparable to Clinique's Chubby Stick and Tarte's LipSurgence.  The product is housed in a chubby crayon like tube.  Like Clinique and Tarte, this lippie is retractable so no need to sharpen it.

Honey gives off a mauvish color when applied to lips.  The good thing about this is the product is actually buildable.  You can slather it on your puckers without looking over the top. No wonder this color has been flying off the shelves.  For me, this shade is also the most wearable for my skin tone.  I also love how the product gives a bit a tingly sensation because it has a bit of a mint flavor in it.   I love how natural this shade is that still allows me to wear mascara and contact lenses without looking like a drag queen!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain - Initial Application.  It gives a slight of sheen and minty feel to the lips which goes away after 10 mins.

In terms of staying power, I think this is where Revlon outperforms the competition.  This product glides on as a tinted balm at first and then after 3 or 4 hours, the balmy finish will disappear. What will be left on your lips is the stain.  And stain it does! I applied this baby on my lips in the morning, and even in the afternoon, the stain is still there.  When I brushed teeth and lips in the evening, the stain would still transfer to the bristles of my toothbrush.  Value for money is also optimum because it seems as if you are getting 2 shades in one lip balm tube.  This balm applies as mauvy deep rose color. However after 3 hours, it would stain into a light coral shade.

The mauvy shade turned light coral 3 hours through wear time.

Even after 3 hours, it still gives that My Lips But Better Effect

I did not have a problem with this drying my lips. What I would do is use Chapstick on my lips to try to hydrate it.  Don't get me wrong, this is not drying at all. It's just that I want that bit of a waxy feel on my puckers.

Oh how I wish I was in the US last Black Friday as I'm sure these babies were on sale.  Oh well, for now, I'll just have to save up to be able to collect the entire line.  Is it obvious that I'm in love with this?

I can honestly say that this is a keeper! I am totally in love with my Honey!

Holy Grail Verdict:

Effectiveness: 4/5  I would have loved for the balmy finish and mint taste to last longer

Price: 4/5 This is considered to be an expensive product for a drugstore item. However, considering the effect on the lips, this is something else!

Availability: 2/5 This shade in particular was extremely hard to get by.  The only ones available in the stores i visited were Darling, Charm, Cherish and Precious.
